Tell us about the occasion

Start with what the group should experience together: a cultural introduction, an opportunity to ask questions or a guided activity within a wider incentive programme. Describe the audience and its likely familiarity with sumo. Avoid assuming that an activity will automatically improve teamwork or deliver a business outcome. A clear purpose gives the organiser something practical to plan around and gives the event team a sensible basis for evaluating the experience afterward.

Choose a venue for your group size

A real ring is ideally suited to groups of up to twenty. The standard mat format serves ten to thirty participants, with larger bespoke programmes available for groups up to two hundred. A larger number requires a specific discussion of space, staffing, participation and event timing; it should not be treated as a simple enlargement of a small session. Share expected headcount, any uncertainty and the point at which final numbers will be known.

Plan the day with your event team

Include preferred city, date windows, venue requirements, language needs and the surrounding event schedule. The programme is approximately ninety minutes, while arrivals, changing and departures require confirmation. State who will coordinate the group and how participant questions will reach the organiser. Private bookings are recommended at least two weeks ahead, and bespoke requests should be raised as early as possible. Ask for a written proposal that identifies the agreed format, staffing and responsibilities before promoting the activity internally.
